Disappointment and Surprise

Lake Disappointment is in the Little Sandy Desert of Western Australia. It is endorheic – meaning that it has no outflow – and is a dry salt lake for most of the year. Its main body is about 50 miles across in its largest dimension.

Lake Surprise is about 600 yards wide in its longest dimension. It's in southern Tasmania, near the much larger Lake Pedder.

There are also a Lake Surprise and a Disappointment Lake in the USA. Lake Surprise is an artificial lake in New Jersey, about three quarters of a mile from end to end. Disappointment Lake is in Minnesota, not far from the Canadian border and close to Lake Superior; it's about 2.5 miles from end to end.
